Long, long ago, some rivers always overflowed their banks. People who lived in the flooded areas were homeless. For controlling the floods,the god Gun was killed. His son Da Yu was determined to continue his father's work -- controlling the floods. He led people to tunnel through mountains and cut across ridges in order to lead the water to the sea. At that time, he passed by his home three times, but did not enter the house. He worked with great efforts for a long time and finally he succeeded in controlling the floods.
